1st Congress of the Polish Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Biophysics and Bioinformatics “BIO 2014”

Dear Colleagues,

We cordially invite you to participate in the 1st Congress of the Polish Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Biophysics and Bioinformatics “BIO 2014” which will take place in Warsaw, September 9th-12th 2014.

The Congress BIO 2014 is for the first time jointly organized by four Polish Scientific Societies: Warsaw Divisions of the Polish Biochemical and the Polish Cell Biology Societies together with the Polish Biophysical Society and the Polish Bioinformatics Society. The Congress is the largest scientific forum in Poland in the field of biological sciences and will serve for the review of recent research progress, integration of the scientific environment, interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and creation of unprecedented networking opportunities.

The Congress venue will be the Auditorium Maximum and Old Library buildings at the main campus of the Warsaw University, with its tradition going back to 1812. The venue is located at the beautiful historic district of Warsaw, adjacent to the Old Town, as well as to the modern city center. The intention of the organizers was to integrate the atmosphere of the historical Warsaw University with the style of our modern capitol.

The scientific program of BIO 2014 Congress is composed of 5 plenary lectures and 15 sessions with lectures of invited speakers and short oral presentations. Poster sessions, as a key possibility to discuss data, will have their special place in the time schedule. Equipment exhibitions and company presentations will sustain another important part of the congress. Do not forget to also check the list of possible competitions and prizes.

Plenary speakers: We are especially happy and honored that plenary lectures will be presented by renowned, word-top scientists with outstanding achievements, including Nobel Prize laureates, Profs. John Gurdon (opening lecture) and Aaron Ciechanover (closing lecture).

Sessions: The scientific program offers a rich array of sessions, from characterization of biomolecules through the cellular “omics” and functional cellular systems, up to specific cell types and their functions in norm and in disease states. Sessions on biophysics and on bioinformatics will complement this program which, we hope, reflects important aspects in biological sciences of the 21st century. Poster sessions, as well as company presentations and equipment exhibitions will sustain another important part of the Congress.

We wish all participants an interesting meeting, in the spirit of discovering new horizons and ways of thinking. Enjoy the friendly atmosphere of Warsaw – a capitol which embodies both a proud history and the dynamic development of today.

On behalf of the Organizing and Scientific Committees of the Congress BIO 2014,

Urszula Wojda
